UNITED COUNTRIES (Reuters) – The U.N. Security Council stated on Wednesday it was concerned by the threats of a deterioration in the humanitarian scenario in northeast Syria and the escape of Islamic State fighters, however made no reference to a Turkish assault on Syrian Kurdish militia in the area that started a week back.
The 15- member council agreed the quick statement after satisfying for the 2nd time behind closed doors given that the Turkish operation began, forcing 10s of thousands of civilians to leave and raising doubt about the fate of countless Islamic State fighters in Kurdish prisons.
