UNITED COUNTRIES (Reuters) – United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres invited “any efforts” to de-escalate the scenario in northern Syria and safeguard civilians, a U.N. spokesman said in a statement on Thursday after Turkey consented to pause its offending there.
” The Secretary-General acknowledges that there is still a long way to go for an efficient solution to the crisis in Syria,” U.N. representative Farhan Haq stated in a statement.
Turkey accepted pause its offensive for five days to let Kurdish forces withdraw from a “safe zone” Ankara had looked for to record, in an offer hailed by the Trump administration and cast by Turkey as a complete triumph.
