Home Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., led President Trump into a verbal back-and-forth that resulted in Pelosi and two other legislators leaving of a White Home conference, according to Sen. John Kennedy, R-La.
Trump is not an individual who is most likely to back down from a tense debate, Kennedy declared Thursday on “ Tucker Carlson Tonight“
” In regards to the war of words, you and I both know President Trump– he is not a ‘turn-the-other-cheek’ sort of guy,” he stated. “I think he thinks if you turn the other cheek, you just get it in the neck– so Speaker Pelosi understands that. I spoke with people who remained in the conference. She baited him, he took the bait.”
Kennedy suggested Trump may have been much better off not sparring with Pelosi, saying the president had revealed anger towards Democrats over their ongoing impeachment query when he consulted with Kennedy recently.
” He’s being charged– or I believe he will be charged– with a high criminal activity or a high misdemeanor,” Kennedy added. “Any person who understands a law book from a J. Team catalog knows that requires intent.”
Kennedy stated Trump believes he acted within his governmental powers to ask Ukraine to examine possible interference throughout the 2016 election and declared “impropriety” by previous Vice President Joe Biden and his son.
The Louisiana lawmaker claimed former President Thomas Jefferson’s fight with his onetime vice president, Aaron Burr, set a “precedent” for what Trump is appearing to do.
Kennedy said Jefferson tried to have Burr prosecuted for treason not because he ended up being a political competitor but since he believed he had devoted a crime and happened to be a political competitor.
” To me, this whole thing has to do with intent,” he said of Trump’s case.
