” Criminals are running wild” in several cities across the nation, turning them into “absolute hellholes” in the middle of an alarming spike in violent criminal offense, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said on “ Outnumbered Overtime“
Huckabee, a Fox News contributor, explained on Monday that “New York City and Chicago have some of the most rigorous gun control laws on the planet.”
” It’s really hard for personal people to own a firearm in those cities and yet the occurrence of guns among the bad guys makes it really clear that somebody has actually decided they are just not going to follow the law,” Huckabee said.
He then asked, “Why should they?”
” No one’s going to impose it,” Huckabee continued.
” They’re not going to be held responsible for breaking the law and so the crooks are cutting loose and it’s just a catastrophe for fantastic cities of our nation to be turned into outright hellholes.”
In New York City in between July 17 and 19, there were 22 shooting events and 24 shooting victims reported, according to the NYPD. Shooting events are up 340 percent compared to the year prior to and shooting victims increased by 380 percent from 2019, the NYPD reported.
New York City Mayor Costs de Blasio stated on Monday, “I do believe we saw some progress this weekend. We got a lot more we got to do, but at least we’re starting to see development from the combination of putting officers out in the locations [with the] greatest effect in a pinpointed method and the growing existence of neighborhood members working with NYPD to stop the violence.”
” I don’t understand how Expense de Blasio might perhaps state that things are improving,” Huckabee stated on Monday, keeping in mind the “350 percent boost in violent crimes” and “when places like Chicago and New York City are more harmful now than Somalia or Syria in the middle of a civil war.”
” I do not know where they come up with the concept that their cities are OKAY,” Huckabee said. ” They’re not OK.”
Fox News’ Greg Norman added to this report.
