Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot joined cops authorities Wednesday to advocate support from the general public a day after gunfire erupted outside a funeral house that left 15 people hurt, and a separate occurrence in which a 3-year-old girl was shot in the head– this after rejecting the Trump administration’s strategy to send out federal representatives to assist combat increasing criminal activity in the city.

Tuesday night’s shooting on the city’s South Side happened as a group of individuals was standing outside a funeral home in the Gresham neighborhood. A stolen Chevy Malibu traveling on the 1000 block of 79 th Street was going by when guests inside opened fire, Chicago Authorities Chief of Detectives Brendan Deenihan stated.

Two cops team cars were stationed outside the funeral house, Cops Superintendent David Brown stated, something the department does for funerals for known gang members.
