The Cleveland Police Department was reeling Friday after the loss of 2 of their own– one officer shot and killed while on task and another dead by suicide, according to reports.
” I do not believe anyone out there can truly comprehend what the division is going through,” Cleveland Authorities Chief Calvin Williams said in a psychological press conference Friday, according to Cleveland.com. “The loss of an officer in the line of task, specifically to violence, is an awful disaster. But two officers in one night is truly bad.”
Veteran Officer James Skernivitz, 53, was fatally shot around 10 p.m. Thursday while working undercover. 3 suspects have been detained in connection with the shooting in which another man also was killed, FOX 8 in Cleveland reported.

Officer James Skernivitz was fatatlly shot Thursday night, authorities state.
Skernivitz had been with the department given that 1998.
