The knife crime “epidemic” afflicting England and Wales has infiltrated the classroom, where more than 1,300 students– including a 4-year-old kid– have been caught bring weapons at school.

New figures, gotten by the Press Association throughout a Liberty of Details request, showed that 1,383 trainees throughout England and Wales were found bring some kind of a weapon between April 2018 and August 2019.

The weapons consisted of knuckledusters, a hammer, a machete, a bayonet, a Taser, a gun and even in one case, a teenager equipped with a sword, Sky News reported.

In one case, a Cambridgeshire student was captured with a fidget spinner fitted with a spike.

School leaders stated that the figures– which are most likely higher– were “grim but unsurprising.”

“[They] show a growing issue over the prevalence of weapons in broader society,” stated Geoff Barton, basic secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders. “Schools are doing their best to deal with these problems, however they can not perhaps resolve this concern by themselves. They need more back-up in the form of well-resourced neighborhood support services and more financial investment in policing.”

The figures revealed some 1,072 circumstances of kids caught carrying weapons into schools were stated by 29 police across England and Wales over the last , up from 831 in the previous 12 months.

In Between April and August 2019, there were another 311 events, with 49 of those involving kids listed below the age of 10, which is the age of criminal duty in England and Wales.

” Serious violence is a growing issue amongst youths and we continue to work closely with partners to resolve this,” Chief Constable Olivia Pinkey of the National Authorities Chiefs’ Council, told Sky News.

According to the figures, typically, five weapons were seized every day of the English academic year.

These shocking figures come amid a growing epidemic of knife and weapons violence in England and Wales.

In July, police said knife criminal offense had reached a record high in 2018-19, with such offenses increasing by a minimum of 8 percent.

The information launched by the Office for National Stats (ONS) reveal that there were 43,516 police-recorded offenses involving a knife or sharp instrument, the highest figure given that such records started in 2011.

This information doesn’t take into account the crimes recorded by Scottish authorities and the Greater Manchester Police, which patrols parts of the 9th biggest city in Britain.
