Adam Sandler had one particular request when recording his newest film, “Uncut Gems.”
The police procedural, which is set for release on Friday, sees Sandler handle a function outside of his usual comedic schtick.
Playing Howard Ratner, Sandler portrays a New York City Diamond District jewelry expert who has an addiction to betting. Sandler’s character is married to Dinah– depicted by Idina Menzel— and is likewise in a relationship with sweetheart, Julia– played by Julia Fox.
Striking the red carpet for the best of the movie in Hollywood on Wednesday, Fox talked to ET and exposed the one issue Sandler at first had with the film’s script.
” My character’s name was originally supposed to be Sadie,” Fox said. “But that’s his child’s name, so he really had it switched for that to make it easier on the women.”
Sandler later on validated Fox’s story.
” That’s my child’s name!” Sandler stated. “And I said, ‘You can’t have my child’s name in this film.'”
Sandler is the dad to Sadie, 13 and Sunny,11 He then went on to discuss his family and how he doesn’t desire his kids to view the film.
” My wife [Jackie] can manage it all. My partner encouraged me to do the film,” Sandler noted. “[As for] my kids, I said I don’t desire them to see this till maybe 60 or 70.”
“[There’s] some unclean things, yes. I was dirty in this film,” Sandler pointed out. “And yes, it doesn’t look terrific, but it’s a good movie.”
