Politics
In a preview clip of an interview with CBS’s “Face the Nation,” White House advisor to the president and very first child Ivanka Trump stated her daddy President Donald Trump was both “stimulated and “angry” over impeachment.
MARGARET BRENNAN: Your daddy has actually now been impeached. He is now only the third U.S. president to go through this.
IVANKA TRUMP: Yeah.
MARGARET BRENNAN: What has been the impact? Has he made peace with it?
IVANKA TRUMP: He’s stimulated, as are 63 million-plus citizens who elected him to workplace. This is historical, as you note. And in many ways, consisting of the truth that it is the first purely partisan impeachment. In truth, the only thing bipartisan was the vote against proceeding forward, which numerous Democrats occurred to decline the articles, both that were presented and- and that voted against last night’s vote. So, you understand, what’s I think deeply regrettable and frustrating is the amount of work that we could be doing to further the shared objectives that we have and that the American people desire us to be finding typical ground on. If you believe about this previous week and what has actually been accomplished by this administration, despite unprecedented resistance and an environment of just incredible raw politics, it’s been amazing. From the passage of the defense bill, which protected for countless Americans, paid family delegate the production of space force to the largest pay raise for our service members in- in a decade. That plus USMCA plus tier among the U.S. China trade deal. It is amazing. We passed permanent- irreversible funding for HBCUs–
MARGARET BRENNAN: Historically black colleges.
IVANKA TRUMP:– something that individuals have- traditionally black colleges, something that people have actually been attempting to get provided for ages. The quantity of work that we’ve achieved in a really short amount of time is- is just amazing. Which’s where our focus is. That’s where our priorities are leading us to- to deliver on guarantee after pledge.
MARGARET BRENNAN: I marvel to hear you say energized since when I check out the letter that your father sent to Speaker Pelosi, he seemed mad. And in fact, he wrote, you do not understand, nor do you care the excellent damage and harm you have actually caused upon wonderful and caring members of my family. Was that a referral to you?
TRUMP: I do not believe the words are equally special. You can be upset at a procedure that is unjust. And I think you heard from all the Republicans in the Home yesterday, their anger, their disbelief that this procedure was continuing forward when simply numerous months ago, the speaker herself said she would not advance impeachment without bipartisan arrangement and consent. So there is- there can be anger. Anger at the chance cost to the Americans we’re all here serving.
MARGARET BRENNAN: He states damage–
TRUMP: And what might have gotten done. Angry at the wild-goose chase. Angry at the security damage. Angry, but it’s still energizing. And it focuses you on really and draws into relief the stark contrast in priorities.
MARGARET BRENNAN: When- when he–
TRUMP:– in between Republicans and Democrats today, that could alter in the future. However today, we are concentrated on delivering historical wins, and sadly we can’t define the concerns of anybody but ourselves. So we know what the White Home is devoted to doing, and we are delivering time after time.
MARGARET BRENNAN: When he states damage and hurt, what is your- what is your daddy’s state of mind right now? I imply, he’s speaking about hurt to your family. Is that the way you feel it? Do you feel it in a personal method?
TRUMP: Well, I think you saw his state of mind last night, and so did everyone enjoying.
MARGARET BRENNAN: At the rally, you imply?
TRUMP: He stated it didn’t even feel like he was being impeached. There is- there is incredible energy on a side. Look, it is pretty unprecedented that assistance for impeachment has actually reduced gradually as more details was provided to the American people. It’s decreased, not increased. So with all of this time invested, with all of these witnesses who didn’t have firsthand knowledge, with all of these individuals that have been paraded in front of the American people, assistance for this action has reduced. So, you understand, I believe he sees it for what it is, which is actually just raw partisan politics.
MARGARET BRENNAN: You are an adviser to your father.
TRUMP: Yes.
MARGARET BRENNAN: It appears like this impeachment will head towards or at least, it’s expected to head towards a Senate trial. Do you encourage him on that? Do you think that this should be a trial with witnesses and new proof?
TRUMP: I leave that to the legal representatives in regards to procedurally how to- who- how to move forward.
MARGARET BRENNAN: You haven’t provided your own guidance?
TRUMP: I offer him my point of view and viewpoint. However many individuals are extremely knowledgeable about process and how to move forward. And I would accept them on that.
MARGARET BRENNAN: In your opinion, do you think he’s getting excellent counsel from Rudy Giuliani, the president’s individual attorney?
TRUMP: I understand Rudy Giuliani in a really different context as one of the greatest mayors in the history of this nation and- and a real hero in New York. So that is- that is the experience I’ve had with Rudy for an extremely long period of time. He’s clever and thoughtful and- and- and a genuine warrior and was a fantastic- a great mayor.
MARGARET BRENNAN: I ask you about that, because, of course, it was his actions in Ukraine and the examination and his continued claim that he is dealing with behalf of your father on these jobs. And it’s developed a great deal of news, and new storylines that the White Home has actually needed to react to that have actually just complicated in many ways moving on.
TRUMP: That’s your assessment. So, I don’t understand that I wish to confirm that- that remark. It- it is what it is. We’re here. More than 50 percent of America thinks that we should not be in this position and that the president shouldn’t have been impeached. And we have the contract of every Republican member of Congress and a handful of Democrats too. So the facts are there for- for the American individuals to assess and determine themselves.
