Former Turkish prime minister Ahmet Davutoglu has warned that the continued aggressive policies of Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan might result in military conflict.

The previous prime minister specified that Turkey’s existing policy was dangerous which while he thought the nation had legitimate issues over its expected coastal territories, the confrontational actions of Erdogan could escalate and result in a crisis.

” Unfortunately our federal government is not doing a proper diplomatic efficiency,” Davutoglu stated, and included that all the parties associated with the Eastern Mediterranean must seek to get around a negotiating table to “de-escalate the tension,” paper Kathimerini reports

A previous member of Erdogan’s Islamist AKP party, Davutoglu formed his own celebration, the Future Celebration, in December of in 2015. The celebration is made up of numerous other AKP defectors also.

Stress in the Eastern Mediterranean mainly stem from Turkish attempts to perform seismic research study for natural resources in locations Greece considers to be part of its own exclusive financial zone (EEZ).

Greece put its militaries on alert at the end of July over the problem and tensions have actually remained high between the 2 nations ever because, with France recently supporting Greece and broadening its own presence in the location more just recently.

Previously this week, France announced that its airplane provider, the Charles De Gaulle, would also be released to the Eastern Mediterranean.

Reacting to the French move, previous Turkish admiral Deniz Kutluk said he doubted France and Turkey would concern military blows however claimed the Turks could take over the French airplane provider within two days.

Kutluk had much harsher words for Greece, however, stating that Turkey needs to provide a 48- hour due date for Greece to get rid of all military workers from the Aegean islands based on the agreement reached in the Treaty of Lausanne in 1923.

” Turkey must state that ‘We do not recognise sovereignty over these 16 islands’. Turkey should state that ‘Greece within 48 hours and under observation by international observers will guarantee the disarmament of these islands or else these islands are ours’. And one by one, let’s take it and complete it. We have that power,” he boasted.

German Federal Intelligence Service (BND) findings show that the Turkish federal government purposely incited riots at the Greek border by planting members of its security services among crowds of migrants. https://t.co/Nu6CzyZU0Z
