LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Nevada Nationwide Guard will ship greater than 200 troops to Washington, D.C., to assist with safety for President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration on Jan. 20.
The guard mentioned in an announcement Tuesday that the choice was not prompted by final week’s lethal assault on the U.S. Capitol and that the items had already been scheduled to help regulation enforcement on the ceremony.
“Troopers within the Nevada Military Guard’s 1st Squadron, 221st Cavalry and 3665th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Firm and Airmen within the Nevada Air Guard’s 152nd Communications Flight are set to go away within the upcoming week to help the inauguration,” the guard mentioned in an announcement.
Greater than 30 states plan to ship Nationwide Guard personnel to help native police with safety, logistics and communications in the course of the occasion, the Las Vegas Assessment-Journal reported.
