Throughout this time of social distancing and homebound seclusion, the little things have become extra crucial. A walk through the neighborhood on a warm day. Getting in touch with enjoyed ones over video chat. And making certain your damn brother does not consume all the good cereal again.

When I was a kid, my own bro executed what he called the “24- hour guideline,” which was that if I had a certain treat or leftovers and didn’t consume it within 24 hours, it was fair video game for others (him) to consume. Even as an adult, I have to protect certain valuable leftovers from my own hubby, who lives by the “ask for forgiveness, not authorization” approach.
