There are perfectly good celeb style minutes, and after that there are the looks that really stick with you, the ones you attempt desperately to recreate at house. In ‘ Excellent Clothing in Style History,’ Fashionista editors are revisiting their all-time preferred lewks.
Maybe this will make me something of a fashion traitor, however when it comes to all-time memorable red carpet looks, often I find the most basic looks are the best. While I enjoy a dangerous, statement-making choice, the truth of the matter remains that the classics simply stand better to the test of time.

Take, for instance, Lupita Nyong’ o‘s powder blue, custom-made Prada gown worn to the 2014 Oscars It is a practically deceptively easy dress in pleated silk, cut low at the front and at the back. However a closer look reveals subtle crystal information at the edges of the pleats of the skirt that capture the light without being distracting. It’s been six years, and this clothing– completely Disney princess worthwhile!– is as fresh as it was when it initially struck the red carpet.
Stylist Micaela Erlanger kept the accessories basic, with a matching clutch and platforms, likewise by Prada, Fred Leighton jewels and a single crystal headband. It was Nyong’ o who included the very best device of all: The Academy Award for Finest Supporting Actress for her function in “12 Years a Slave”. (And likewise, her funny, scene-stealing brother Peter)
And the best part of all is that Nyong’ o plainly enjoyed it, too; nearly every image of her from the night involved smiling or twirling.
