On January 11 th, Daniel Arsham will be opening his very first solo program of 2020 in Perrotin’s Paris area. Entitled Paris 3020, the new exhibit from the New York-based artist features a suite of large-scale worn down sculptures based on iconic busts, friezes and sculptures from classical antiquity (along with a series of graphite procedure illustrations). Given unprecedented access to the Réunion des Musées Nationaux– Grand Palais (RMN)’s molds and scans of some of the most renowned pieces from museum collections in Europe, Arsham taken his imaginary archaeology to the next level by using his strategies to real items from the far-off past instead of the near present wishing to “compress time, at when referencing the past, notifying the present, and reaching towards a crystallized future.”
